Your choice of vehicles, driving habits and keeping your vehicle in good running condition goes a long way towards lessening our effects on the environment. Avoid sudden starts and stops. Jerky and aggressive driving decreases miles per gallon and increases wear and tear on you vehicle.
Auto Tech Center wants you to be aware:
- Regular tunes-ups, maintenance, and clean air filters will maximize your fuel economy and minimize the amount of pollutants your vehicle can produce.
- Think of lighten the load by clearing out items that are not needed and weigh the vehicle down. Check your tires. Properly inflated tires can save fuel cost. Tires that are not properly inflated can wear down tires and even create engine damage.
- It is important to properly dispose of used fluids and components.
- About 17 percent of vehicles on the road have loose, damaged or missing gas caps, causing 147 million gallons of gas to vaporize every year. Topping off your gas tank can also release harmful vapors into the environment.
